The Early Years/The Memphis Sound is another
great 2-fer serving up tasty portions of Charlie Richs Sun
Records output from the late 50s and early 60s. Charlie
was fresh off of writing successes for Johnny Cash ("The Ways Of A
Woman In Love") and Jerry Lee Lewis ("Ill Make It All Up To You")
when he took his turn in the studio with the the high octane "Whirlwind,"
and rockers "Philadelphia Baby" and "Rebound." Most of the songs
were written by Charlie; though it is still early in his career, they
already bear his painfully sweet lyricism.
